"I prefer limit to no-limit." 3) "The limit" is an expression used by draw poker players at the time of the draw referring to how many cards the players wish. In high, the expression "Give me the limit" means "Give me three cards"; in lowball, "Give me one card." So called, because "the book" supposedly says that good draw poker players take no more than three cards and good lowball players take no more than one.
