Antimony (health)


A silvery-white earth metal which at high levels can be toxic. Antimony occurs naturally in the earth. Antimony ores are mined and then mixed with Other metals to form antimony alloys or combined with oxygen to form antimony oxide. Antimony breaks easily, but when mixed into alloys, it is used in lead storage batteries, solder, sheet and pipe metal, bearings, castings, and pewter. Antimony oxide is added to textiles and plastics to prevent them from catching fire and is also used in paints (especially enamels), ceramics, and fireworks.

Ingredients



250ml/9fl oz beef stock1 clove garlic, peeled and crushed½ beef sirloin steak, dicedpinch of chilli flakes½ baby fennel, sliced1 tbsp sesame oil55g/2oz noodles (or cooked pappardelle pasta)



Method



1. Bring the beef stock to the boil in a medium saucepan.2. Add the garlic, beef, chilli flakes and fennel and reduce the heat. Cook for 6-8 minutes or until the beef is cooked, stirring occasionally.3. Stir in the sesame oil and then add the noodles/pasta and heat for a few more minutes.4. Remove from the heat and then transfer the soup to a serving bowl to serve.
