bloody show (medicine)

bloody show

Literally, the appearance of blood. The bloody show consists of blood-tinged mucus created by extrusion and passage of the mucous plug that filled the cervical canal (the canal between the vagina and uterus) during Pregnancy. The bloody show is therefore a classic sign of impending labour. The same term, bloody show, can be applied to the beginning of menstruation.
