A dimensionless quantity used in the study of surface tension, bubbles, and waves, usu. expressed as ¦Ñlv2/ or the reciprocal of this, where is the surface tension of the fluid, ¦Ñ its density, l the characteristic length, and v the velocity of the fluid or of waves in the fluid; the square root of either of these quantities.
