A. adjective.
Formed by cohesion of parts into a mass, solidified, solid; grown together. Also, compounded of various ingredients, composite. Now rare or obsolete. LME.
Grammar & Logic. Of a term or noun: denoting a substance or thing as distinct from a quality, state, or action (opp. abstract). Formerly also, designating a quality regarded as adherent to a substance, or a term expressing such a quality, i.e. the adjective, e.g. white (paper etc.), as distinct from the quality abstracted from the substance and expressed by an abstract noun, e.g. whiteness. Embodied in material form or existing as an actual example; real, tangible: opp. abstract. Of an idea, proposal, etc.: relating to realities or actual instances; specific, definite. M17.
