The action of appointing or intending a person or thing for a particular end or purpose; the fact of being so appointed or intended. Now rare. LME.
The end or purpose for which a person or thing is destined. M17.
The fact of being destined or bound for a particular place. Chiefly in place of destination etc. (= sense 4 below). L18.
The place to which a person or thing is going, the intended end of a journey. E19.
