verb trans. Make homogeneous or uniform; incorporate into a whole of uniform composition. L19.
b. Subject (milk, cream, or another emulsion) to a process by which suspended droplets are broken up and dispersed through the liquid, so preventing separation of the constituents. E20.
c. Metallurgy. Render (an alloy) more uniform in composition by heating and slow cooling. E20.
