[Old English hoh from Germanic, shortened as 1st elem. of hohsinu (= hough-sinew below). Cf. HOE noun1.]
Orig., a person's heel. Later, (the part of the thigh adjacent to) the hollow part behind a person's knee-joint. OE.

A joint of meat consisting of the part extending from the hock some way up the leg. Cf. HOCK noun2 2. LME.
