Zoology. Any crustacean of the order Isopoda, characterized by a dorsoventrally flattened body, and seven similar pairs of thoracic legs equal in length, and comprising the terrestrial woodlice and allied marine and freshwater species, some being parasitic. Cf. AMPHIPOD.
