A. adverb. Likewise, also. Chiefly used to introduce and draw attention to a new statement, particular, or entry, esp. in a list or formal document. LME.

b. noun.
Formerly, a statement, maxim, or warning, orig. such as was introduced by the word 'item' (see sense A. above). Now (US dial.), an intimation, a hint. M16.
An individual thing, article, or unit included in a set, list, computation, or total, as (a) an entry or thing entered in an account or register; (b) a detail or category of expenditure; (c) a news story; (d) a member of a set of linguistic units. L16.
