[Origin uncertain: cf. Kurukh kavaa mouthful, Kannada kabalisu to gulp. Sanskrit kavaa, Hindi kabai cry at kabaddi.]
A team pursuit game popular in the north of the Indian subcontinent in which the two teams alternately send a player into the opposing team's court to try to touch one of the opponents while repeating the word 'kabaddi' (to show that the breath is being held as the rules require).
