Law (now Hist.). A clause (opening with the word praemunientes, 'warning') in the writ of Edward I by which bishops and abbots summoned to Parliament were required to summon representatives of the lesser clergy to attend with them (also praemunientes clause); the writ itself (also praemunientes writ).
