A. adjective.
Periodically or continually recurring. Only in L18.
a. Math. & Logic. Involving or designating a repeated procedure such that the required result at each step except the last is given in terms of the result(s) of the next step, until after a finite number of steps a terminus is reached with an outright evaluation of the result. M20.
b. Linguistics. Designating a grammatical rule or category which applies at two or more successive stages in the derivation of a sentence. M20.
c. Computing. Designating a statement, subroutine, etc., some part of which makes use of the whole of itself, so that its explicit interpretation requires in general many successive executions; (of a language, compiler, etc.) that allows of such techniques. M20.
Phonetics. Designating a consonant accompanied by glottal closure or implosion. M20.
