The action of TRADE verb; esp. buying and selling; commerce, trade.
Comb.: trading account an account giving details of sales during a period, including the revenue gained, the cost, the stock held, and the overall profit or loss; trading card each of a set of picture cards, featuring e.g. popular cartoon characters, that are collected and traded, esp. by children; trading estate an area of land specially developed for commerce or light industry; trading floor the area in a stock exchange where dealing is done; trading-house Hist. a building where bartering with N. American Indians took place; trading-place a place visited, esp. for trade; trading post (a) see POST noun4 3c; (b) a post or position on a stock exchange floor where particular stocks are bought and sold; trading profit profit as shown in a trading account; trading stamp a stamp given to a customer in some stores which is exchangeable in large numbers for various articles (cf. STAMP noun 8b(c)).
