coronary thrombosis (medicine)

coronary thrombosis

A blood clot in the lumen of a coronary artery. This is the mechanism by which a myocardial infarction results. A thrombus forms when microscopic cracks (from the effects of atherosclerosis) occur in the coronary vessel wall. These tiny cracks expose collagen, thus triggering platelets to adhere to the site and a blood clot to form.

parotid fascia

The part of the Investing cervical fascia that ensheaths the parotid gland and is fixed above to the zygomatic arch.
