I. Law.
a. Uninterrupted use or possession from time immemorial, or for a period fixed by law as giving a title or right; a title or right acquired by such use or possession. Also positive prescription. LME.

b. Limitation of the time within which an action or claim can be raised; the extinction of a title or right by failure to claim it or Exercise it over a long period. Also negative prescription. L15.
