rheumatic nodule


A small round or oval, mostly subcutaneous nodule made up chiefly of a mass of aschoff bodies and seen in cases of rheumatic fever. It is differentiated from the rheumatoid nodule which appears in rheumatoid arthritis, most frequently over bony prominences.
