trichomycosis

Formerly used to mean any disease of the hair caused by a fungus; presently synonymous with trichonocardiosis or trichomycosis axillaris. Synonym: trichomycetosis.

Origin: tricho-+ G. Mykes, fungus, + G. -osis, condition
