Macedonia (oh)



a country in southeast Europe, north of Greece and south of Serbia. Population: 2,046,000 (2001). Capital: Skopje. It was formerly part of Yugoslavia, but became an independent country in 1991. The country's official name is the Former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia (FYROM).
