Times, The (oh)



an old and famous British daily newspaper. The Times is a serious paper, and generally supports fairly right-wing political ideas. At one time, especially before Television and Radio, The Times had great influence on British political life, and many important people used to give their opinions by Writing letters to The Times. In the US it is sometimes called The London Times so that it is not confused with US newspapers such as The Los Angeles Times or The New York Times.
