Easiest Three-Cheese Fondue

Prep and Cook Time: 20 minutes

Yield: Makes 8 (3-tablespoon) servings



Ingredients:



1tablespoon margarine

1/4cup finely chopped onion

2cloves garlic, minced

1tablespoon all-purpose flour

3/4cup reduced-fat (2%) milk

2cups (8 ounces) shredded mild or sharp Cheddar cheese

1package (3 ounces) cream cheese, cut into cubes

1/2cup (2 ounces) crumbled blue cheese

1/8teaspoon ground red pepper

4to 6 drops hot pepper sauce

Breadsticks and assorted fresh vegetables for dipping









Preparation:





1.Heat margarine in small saucepan over medium heat until melted. Add onion and garlic; cook and stir 2 to 3 minutes or until tender. Stir in flour; cook 2 minutes, stirring constantly.2.Stir milk into saucepan; bring to a boil. Boil, stirring constantly, about 1 minute or until thickened. Reduce heat to low. Add cheeses; cook and stir until melted. Stir in red pepper and pepper sauce. Pour fondue into serving dish. Serve with dippers.







Lighten Up:

To reduce the total fat in this recipe, replace the Cheddar cheese and cream cheese with reduced-fat Cheddar and cream cheeses.
