Italian-Style Sausage with Rice

Yield: Makes 4 to 5 servings
Ingredients:
1pound mild Italian sausage links, cut into 1-inch pieces
1can (about 15 ounces) pinto beans, rinsed and drained
1cup pasta sauce
1green bell pepper, cut into strips
1small onion, halved and sliced
1/2teaspoon salt
1/4teaspoon black pepper
Hot cooked rice
Chopped fresh basil (optional)
Preparation:
1.Brown sausage in large nonstick skillet 6 to 8 minutes over medium-high heat, stirring to break up meat. Drain fat.2.Place sausage, beans, pasta sauce, bell pepper, onion, salt and black pepper into slow cooker. Cover; cook on LOW 4 to 6 hours.3.Serve with rice. Garnish with basil.
