Cheviot Hills (sh)

Range of hills along the England-Scotland border.

Extending northeast-southwest by the two countries' boundary, its highest elevation is Cheviot, at 2,676 ft (816 m). Evidence of prehistoric occupation is widespread. The land controlled by the Forestry Commission became a National Forest Park in 1955, and an even larger area was designated as Northumberland National Park.
