King of Scotland (1005-34).

He acquired the throne after killing Kenneth III and defeating a Northumbrian army at Carham (งใ 1016). He became the first king to reign over territory roughly equivalent to modern Scotland. He tried to eliminate rivals to his grandson Duncan I, but Macbeth survived to challenge the succession.
